Stand Strong on the Word of God ⚓️
Have you noticed that it has become increasingly more hostile to be a faithful follower of Jesus in 21st century North America?
God is not the only one who wants to shape and form us.
We live in a world full of things competing with God for our:
hearts
minds
money
desires
affections
The enemy wants anything except God to be what molds us into the people we become.
So how do we stand strong in the midst of a world trying to distract us from:
living in intimate relationship with God
representing Him to a hurting world
2 Timothy 3:16-17 provides hope in contexts where following Jesus is hard.
These two verses fit within a section urging Timothy to hold fast to sound teaching amidst growing opposition (3:10-4:5).
Paul highlights Scripture’s sufficiency for understanding God’s will and preparing believers to live out their faith.
In a surrounding culture that lets feelings alone drive the narrative, we must stand strong by submitting to God and his will for our lives.
In our passage this week, Scripture is described as being “profitable” for:
correction
reproof
These are restorative terms, aiming to “get us back on track” and align us with God’s purpose for our lives.
This restoration isn't just about fixing what's broken — it's about preparing us for something greater.
To equip us for good work, revealing God’s desires, and empowering us to live out the our original call:
to bear the image of God and represent Him to all of Creation.

Apply & Respond: Transformation > Information 💡
This is the power of Scripture: God’s Word doesn’t just inform - it transforms!
As you reflect on 2 Timothy 3:16-17, think about how Scripture has corrected and guided you in the past.
Was there a time when you struggled with obedience but saw how God’s Word brought clarity or healing?
If correction feels uncomfortable, remember that it’s an expression of God’s love and desire for our flourishing.
God is not some grumpy teacher who doesn’t want you to have any fun!
Like a parent guiding a child, God uses his Word to keep us on the path of life.
Reflect 🤔
What is one area where you feel resistant to God’s guidance?
Take time today to surrender it in prayer, asking for the courage to obey.
Respond 🏃♂️
As you engage with Scripture today, ask God these two questions and listen for his voice:
What do you want me to know?
What do you want me to do?
Pray🙏
“God, let your Word transform me. Help me embrace its teaching, even when it challenges my comfort. Align my heart with your will and use me to reflect your goodness. Amen.
