A review of what we’ve learned 🤔

Here’s the background we learned about Colossians:

  • Setting: Paul is writing this letter on behalf of Epaphras, the man who planted the Colossian church.

  • Purpose: He addresses two heresies that promoted Christ PLUS works (ceremonial law and ascetic fasting) to be reconciled to God.

🥊 Paul smashes through this heresy with a well-crafted doxology to set up his winning argument that Christ is sufficient and sovereign in all matters —

— life, death, creation, and salvation.

We talked through verses 19 and 20, phrase by phrase:

  • “For in him the fullness of God was pleased to dwell…”

    • Jesus is equated to God

  • “…and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven…”

    • Jesus’ reconciliation is exclusive and complete.

  • “…making peace by the blood of his cross.”

    • Jesus’ death settles man’s debt to God.

Throughout our memory passage and the surrounding verses, Paul makes it crystal clear that:

Jesus + nothing = everything

Christ reigns over all things, and he has completely redeemed us.

Praise the Lord!

Immune Ready x Your Body 🤝

The newest part of my morning routine is mixing Immune Ready into my water.

When I drink it, I feel noticeably more hydrated and confident that my immune system is being strengthened.

(which is important for me given that we have 3 kiddos under the age of 5!).

The best part? It tastes great!

And I’m typically not a fan of anything other than normal water.

Again, I personally know the CEO and leadership team — and I know for a fact that God is working in and through their business.

Their customer service team sometimes even prays with their customers on the phone…

Christ the Creator, Redeemer, and Victor ✝️

If you could only take away one thing from this week’s memory verse, it’s this:

Jesus Christ, in His complete power and authority, made it possible for you to be made right with God—all through His sacrifice on the cross.

It’s easy to drift into thinking that our actions can earn God’s love, but the reality is we are justified by faith; our good works are the natural byproduct of the Holy Spirit at work within us.

So if you feel that you don’t measure up, or that your faults are too overwhelming to overcome…

Remember that the sovereign Creator and Redeemer has called you His own, gaining victory over sin and death to make all things right.

And nothing can change that.

Apply and Respond: Ways to Rest in Christ’s Assurance ✝️

Here are some practical ways we can rest in Christ’s assurance of salvation:

  • 🎵 Raise a Song of Praise: Do this when you’re driving, doing dishes or folding laundry!

  • 📖 Read Scripture: Alone, with others, out loud, and in your head.

  • ⛪️ Fellowship with Believers: In establishing His church, Jesus has given you a family of faith—so spend time with them and encourage each other in your spiritual walks.

  • ✍️ Do your daily check-in. Remember: Keeping an inventory of your thoughts, feelings, words, and actions gives you greater clarity on how well you’re resting in God’s promise!

  • 🗣️ Spread This Good News: Share how God revealed more of His truth to you this week with someone!
