Connecting to Other Parts of Scripture 📖
All throughout Scripture, we are encouraged to live out our faith and calling authentically.
Here are some examples…
In Matthew, Jesus reminds us that the way we conduct ourselves each day is a way to fulfill our calling to glorify God.
14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
…we see this appear again in John when Jesus speaks about bearing fruit as evidence of being His disciples, echoing Paul’s message that our lives should reflect our calling.
8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
In Philippians, Paul again stresses the importance of living in a manner worthy of the gospel, reinforcing the idea that our conduct should reflect our faith.
The central theme of Jesus’ life, teachings, death, and resurrection is to transform our lives to mirror God’s love and holiness.
27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.
And this was also part of the original intent when God created us in His image.
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
We were made to represent him to the world and to be ambassadors for Him, showing others what God is like.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.
What did Jesus desire?
He desired and still does desire to cultivate a movement of believers who embody His teachings and radiate His sacrificial love to the world.
Without Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, we would lack the power to live lives worthy of our calling.
But through His work on the cross, Jesus enables us to walk in a manner worthy of our divine calling.
This is the ultimate gift we could receive.
And our calling is to live in response to this gift.
That is what should come to mind when memorizing our verse this week.
Practice: 🤔
In Jesus, the divine calling to a transformed life was made clear.
Without Him, we would lack the true understanding of how to live.
Thanks to Jesus alone, we are empowered to live in a way that reflects our heavenly calling.
But for a moment, just imagine living every day in a manner worthy of the incredible calling you have received in Christ.

🙏 Practice patience and forgiveness when faced with frustrating situations or difficult people.
👍️ Be honest and ethical in all your dealings at work, school, or in personal relationships.
👐 Serve others: Look for opportunities to volunteer, help a neighbor, or support those in need.
