✝️ The Word Became Flesh

The Greek word translated “word” in our memory verse is logos.

For the word (logos) of God is living and active…

Hebrews 4:12a

For those of you who were with us from when we first started Malachi Daily, you’ll remember that John intentionally starts his gospel in John 1:1 with the same words the Bible starts with:

  • In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)

  • In the beginning was the Word (logos) and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... (John 1:1)

And shortly after, John says this:

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14

In addition to the “word of God” in Hebrews 4:12 being a reference to Scripture, the Word of God is a name given to Jesus.

Jesus is the complete revelation of who God is:

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

Colossians 1:15

9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

John 14:9

And through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus continues to be living and active:

13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

14  He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

John 16:13-14

The Word of God IS God.

The Word became flesh.

Practice: Reflect and Share 🤔

The Alpha and Omega 👑

The Word was present at creation.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

The Word of God (Jesus) died on a tree and defeated sin and death.

And at the end of all things, we will see the Word face to face.

11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.

13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word (logos) of God.

Revelation 19:11-13

Praise God that he sent his Word to save us and that death did not have the final say! 🙏

Reflect & Share: Jesus is Alive in you!

Because Jesus defeated sin and death, we have had new life breathed into us!

What evidence do you have in your life that Jesus is in fact living and active?

🗣️ Share with someone today how you are experiencing the living and active God in your life right now!

This is a great way to dive into scripture. Not only does it provide context. It it also gives historical reference so you can get an idea chronologically where it is occurring in the Bible.

I also love how it provides so many different ways to support learning. Coming from a teacher, that’s super important for retention. Well done!!

Question: Would you rather have 3 cups of coffee a month or help 30 fellow believers learn God’s Word and live it out?

(or you can have your coffee and drink it too 🙃)

Each monthly supporter helps us reach 30 more people with the Word of God!

Answer key

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit,

of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

Have a blessed Thursday ✌️

Best,
