CONTEXT π
On Monday, we looked at the big picture of Isaiah.
We saw how this prophetic book moves from judgment to hope, from Israelβs rebellion to Godβs plan for restoration through a Servant-King. Isaiah isnβt just ancient poetry. This book is a spotlight pointing straight to Jesus.
Tuesday, we zoomed in on Isaiah 53 itself.
We discovered that this chapter is a five-part Servant Song that tells the story of Jesusβ suffering and sacrifice with stunning clarity, written 700 years before His birth. And right in the middle of it is Isaiah 53:6 - the hinge of the entire song.
Our rebellion and His rescue meet here.
On Wednesday, we unpacked four key Hebrew words from the verse β
TaΚΏinu (weβve wandered),
Paninu (weβve turned),
Derek (our way),
PagaΚΏ (laid on Him).
These words revealed just how far weβve goneβ¦ and how far Jesus went to bring us back. Our sin didnβt just drift off. It collided with Christ.
He bore the full weight of it.
On Thursday, we drew the bridge to Jesus.
The Suffering Servant of Isaiah is the Good Shepherd of John 10. Jesus doesnβt just tell us to come home, but walks into the storm to find us.
The Servant was pierced.
The Shepherd laid down His life.
Both images point to one truth: Jesus took your place and did it with joy.
So what does this change for you?
APPLY AND RESPOND πββ
I hope this weekβs emails brought some things into clearer focus for you.
I try to never take for granted the exchange Jesus made:
My wandering for His wounds.
My iniquity for His innocence.
My guilt for His grace.
Thatβs not just theology.
We are talking about love. The kind of love that takes the lashes to hide the innocent.
Jesus did this for me, though it should have been me willing to do it for Him.
So hereβs your next step: Donβt just be moved. Be mobilized.
Who needs to hear this good news?
A friend who thinks theyβre too far gone for God to reach them?
A sibling still trying to βclean upβ before they come to Jesus?
A co-worker whoβs curious?
Hereβs a way to start that conversation:
βHey, Iβve been going through a study on Isaiah 53:6. Itβs this prophecy about Jesus written centuries before He was born. It says weβve all gone our own way, but God laid our sin on Him. That just hit me differently this week, and I wanted to share it with you.β
And if it hit you differently this weekβ¦
Donβt bury the truth.
Live like someone whoβs been found.
