✝️ Isaiah 53:6 | Servant & Shepherd
PLUS: A few people who have enjoyed Malachi Daily.

Happy Thursday, everyone!
Today is a special one. I don’t know about you but I SO identify with sheep in need of a shepherd. It’s one of my favorite ways Jesus describes His relationship with us.
Let’s dive in!
In today’s email…

CONTEXT 📕
Let’s connect the dots.
Isaiah 53:6 is a preview. It’s the preamble to the Constitution. The appetizer to the main course. John the Baptist, preparing the way….
The whole chapter paints a vivid picture of a Servant who suffers, not for His own sins, but for ours.
Who bears guilt He didn’t earn
Who is struck down by design
Centuries later, Jesus steps onto the scene and into the story.
Speaking of John the Baptist, when he sees Jesus approaching, he doesn’t say, “There’s a good teacher” or “There’s a prophet.”
He says, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29)
That’s Isaiah language.
And Jesus doesn’t avoid the sheep metaphor.
He bluntly says, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” — John 10:11
Let that sink in.
Isaiah says we are the sheep who wandered.
Jesus says He is the Shepherd who lays down His life to bring us home.
The two are inseparable.
Isaiah 53:6 says the Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
John 10 says Jesus chose to lay down His life for us.
It wasn’t forced. It wasn’t random. It was the plan. From the beginning.
That is poetic, yes.
That is prophecy, absolutely.
But beyond all that, it is a promise from our Creator to us. To you.
You don’t have to be reminded how desperately you need Jesus. That truth follows us everywhere.
You just need to be reminded that Jesus was willing to give everything for you and is calling you back home to Him.
APPLY AND RESPOND
My uncle used to raise sheep.
I don’t know much about them besides that they are not the most intelligent animal and they smell to high heaven 😅
But my uncle loved them.
He loved his sheep.
And every time I went out to the pens to help him feed or shave his small flock, he never scolded or was aggressive towards them.
He knew they needed help. He knew it was his job to help them.
So he cared for them gently and with a great level of patience.
It’s hard for me to guess the status of your relationship with God, but I know for certain His position with you. He loves you.
Write down Isaiah 53:6 and John 10:11 side by side. Pray through them slowly. Let the Servant and the Shepherd become one in your heart.
And let us know how you see God’s provision and care this week.
Pray 🙏
Jesus, You didn’t just talk about rescuing me. You actually did it. You laid down Your life when I had nothing to offer in return. Thank You for being both the Lamb who took my place and the Shepherd who brought me home. I receive that love again today. Amen.

All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
