✝️ Jesus & The Ultimate Trial
If ever we need encouragement to stay faithful during a trial, we only need to look to Jesus.
Jesus can relate to our suffering in every way:
“For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted”
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
Even more, Jesus is our trailblazer and our example for how to faithfully endure suffering.
As the author of Hebrews reminds us:
“...let us run with endurance (hupomonē) the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured (hupomenō) the cross” (12:1c-2a).
Indeed, the Christ event shows us that:
In his life Jesus lived the perfect, sinless human life we never could
At the cross Jesus endured the ultimate trial on our behalf
In his crucifixion Jesus took upon himself the crown of thorns, the crown of death
But in his resurrection, ascension, and enthronement as King, Jesus also took upon himself the ultimate crown of life
Thus, he is able to bestow upon those who persevere in faith the crown of life, which is eternal life with him forever
We Are The Joy Set Before Him 👑
In the same way that Jesus was faithful in the midst of the ultimate trial for the joy set before him (us being reconciled to Himself) —
— we are empowered by his Spirit to endure all the trials of life for the joy set before us and remain faithful as well.
Reflect: 🤔
In the parable of the hidden treasure, we learn that once we find Jesus, it’s worth giving up absolutely everything to have him.
He is the most valuable “thing” in all of creation.
But there’s another reading to that parable..
Which is that Jesus gave up everything (his throne, his seat at the right hand of the Father) in order to get his treasure back - the most valuable thing in all of creation:
us
This is our story.
This is the story of God’s great love for us.
Go about your day today living from that story.
🗣️ Bonus: Share the message and that we were the joy set before Jesus - the treasure worth dying for - with someone today.

Until three weeks ago, I couldn't memorize ANYTHING but I've memorized three verses. I can recite all three out loud from memory. I thank God for this and all of you for being ambassadors.
