TOGETHER WITH CHRISTIAN REAL ESTATE NETWORK
I’ll never forget the day we bought our house.
It was a complete God story and one of the most obvious ways we’ve seen God move in our lives (it’s up there with the call to foster care and the adoption of our son). One of the ways God shepherded us through the process was through our real estate agent.

closing day, back when we only had 2 kids and I had…fewer gray hairs
This was one of the biggest financial decisions we would ever make. And the last thing we needed was a Realtor® who treated this purely as a “transaction.” We needed someone we could trust.
Which is why I absolutely love partnering with Christian Real Estate Network.
Their agents are vetted believers who bring godly counsel to the table — people who will pray over your search, help you steward what God has given you wisely, and actually care about where He's leading your family.
Whether you're buying, selling, or just beginning to pray about a move, it's completely free to connect. Click below to find your Christian Realtor® today.
CONTEXT 📕
As we've seen throughout this week, Ephesians 2:8–9 is a helpful summary of how God saves us. But it is also part of a much bigger story.
Sometimes Christians speak of “the gospel” as though it only means "how to get saved."
And while salvation is central to the gospel, the gospel is more broadly the good news about Jesus Christ — his life, death, resurrection, ascension, and coming kingdom.
It is the story of what God has done through his Son to make all things new, and the invitation for us to participate in that story.
This is the message Jesus himself proclaimed:
Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Notice that Jesus didn’t announce a neat and tidy plan of salvation — he announced that God's kingdom had arrived in and through him.
That’s a much bigger announcement! It’s a proclamation that changes everything going forward.
And Ephesians 2:8–9 gives us a snapshot of how we enter that story.
The story begins with grace.
Long before we sought God, he sought us. Jesus entered our broken world, lived the life we could never live, died the death undeserved, and rose again to defeat sin and death. From beginning to end, salvation is God's generous undertaking for our sake.
This is why Paul can say elsewhere that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23–24).
The story is received through faith.
Scripture is clear that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law (Romans 3:28). Faith means looking away from ourselves and resting in Christ alone.
More than believing certain facts about Jesus, it is trusting him, following him, and giving him our allegiance as the risen King.
But the story doesn't end there.
God's grace doesn't simply rescue us from something. It rescues us for something.
Jesus taught that those who belong to him should live lives that reflect the Father's character:
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Notice that Jesus doesn't say our good works earn God's favor. Instead, they point people back to God. They are the visible evidence that his grace has taken root in our lives.
As citizens of God's kingdom, we must reflect the character of our King. We forgive because we have been forgiven. We show mercy because we have received mercy. We love because Christ first loved us.
In that sense, Ephesians 2:8–9 is a miniature version of the whole gospel story:
God's grace takes the initiative.
We respond in faith to Jesus Christ.
Our lives overflow in good works that bring glory to our Father.
And one day, the story will reach its glorious conclusion when Christ returns to make all things new.
Until then, we continue living in the good of the gift we have received — trusting our Savior, following our King, and participating in the work of the Kingdom which is at hand.
APPLY AND RESPOND 🏃♂
The gospel is not merely a moment of decision. It is the good news by which believers live every day. Because we have received God’s grace through faith in Christ, we are free to stop striving for approval and begin living with gratitude.
Here are a few ways to practice this truth this week:
⛪ Participate fully in worship: When you gather with your church, remember that worship is more than showing up. Listen carefully to God’s Word, sing wholeheartedly, pray with the church, and receive the Lord’s Supper with gratitude.
🤲 Receive before you achieve: Before starting a task at work, at home, or in ministry, pause and pray, “Father, thank you that I belong to you because of Christ. Help me work today from your grace, not for it.”
❤️ Practice hidden faithfulness: Choose one act of kindness, generosity, or service that no one else needs to know about. Let it be a quiet response of gratitude to God, not a way to be seen by others.
Pray 🙏
Jesus, thank you for inviting me into the good news of your kingdom. Shape my heart to trust you, follow you faithfully, and reflect your goodness in the ordinary moments of life. May everything I do flow from gratitude for the gift you have freely given through Christ. Amen.

We're trying something new with the spotlight. Reading these reminds us God is still writing stories in inboxes and kitchens we'll never see. We'd love to hear yours. We would love to hear how God is moving in your life!

God is showing me to listen to others instead of quickly giving my opinions, thoughts, etc. I’m also learning to not take satan’s bait of offense and forgive immediately. God is so good. I’m learning to trust him while I pray in my closet…What a mighty God we serve!

My husband can only find work part time. He has great interviews, and is 2 or 3 of the top picks but doesn’t get the job, even though interviews are very good. We have seen God provide for us. Example - receiving 3 unexpected checks in the mail in one week. 6 of our 7 children have been blessed with a new good paying job, and the youngest should be blessed with a job soon too. We know God is blessing us.

For by grace you have been saved through faith.
And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
