Happy Friday, {{first_name | everyone}}!

We’ve covered quite a bit this week. Let’s soar into the weekend with this quote from Church Father, Augustine of Hippo (fun name, I know).

“You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”

In today’s email…

  • 📝 A recap of everything we covered this week

  • 💬 4 ways to share it with someone

  • 📚 In case you missed it…

Proverbs 18:10

CONTEXT 📕

I’ve loved walking through Proverbs 18:10 with you this week. Let’s take a moment to look back and gather what we’ve learned together.

On Monday, we began by slowing down and sitting with a single sentence:

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe.”

Proverbs 18:10

We learned that this verse is not about admiration or agreement, but about movement. When danger comes, the righteous don’t stand still.

They run to God.

Safety is not something we build; it’s Someone we trust.

On Tuesday, we zoomed out to see how Proverbs 18 contrasts false security with true refuge. Human strength, words, pride, and self-reliance all promise safety, but collapse under the pressure of life.

Our culture today elevates independence. To depend on others is to be “needy” and “weak.”

And fortunately for us as followers of Jesus, we have a tower — a source of protection and safety — that we have access to at all times.

As we wrapped up on Tuesday, we asked ourselves the question: Do you run to the tower when things get hard?

On Wednesday, we slowed down and examined 3 Hebrew ideas:

  • Name (shem) — God’s identity, character, and faithfulness

  • Strong tower (migdal-ʿoz) — a place that’s essential, not decorative

  • Run (ruts) — urgent, instinctive movement toward safety

Together, these words showed us that faith requires movement.

In our memory verse, righteousness is not tied to your moral perfection, but rather to your ability to turn towards God with urgency.

And on Thursday, we looked at how Proverbs 18:10 points us to Christ.

Jesus is not just the teacher of refuge, but the refuge Himself. In Him, God’s name becomes personal and near. Jesus invites the weary, the unsure, and the vulnerable to come to Him without fear.

He faced danger so we could be safe.

He absorbed judgment so we could receive mercy.

He suffered death so we could have life eternally.

And now, we look forward to the day when we get to dwell in safety with Jesus forever.

“He who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.”

Revelation 7:15

APPLY AND RESPOND 🏃‍♂

When we discover something new and meaningful, we naturally talk about it. We tell friends about a book we love, a show we’re watching, or a restaurant we’ve discovered.

In the same way, sharing faith is all about invitation.

Proverbs 18:10 reminds us that God is a refuge and if you’ve found even a small sense of safety in God this week, someone around you needs to hear that. Not because you’ve mastered faith, but because you’re learning where to run.

Today, take one simple step to share your faith:

  • Forward this email to someone you care about

  • Ask someone, “What do you usually do when life feels overwhelming?” and, “Can I tell you something that’s been grounding me lately?

  • Then mention something like, “I’ve been studying Proverbs 18:10 and am trying to run to God first instead of stressing.

Faith isn’t private or something to hide.

Not sharing about the refuge you’ve found would be like running into a shelter during an earthquake and never telling anyone else to come inside.

You’re not presenting yourself as the refuge.

You’re simply pointing to Him.
