CONTEXT 📕

Wow. We’ve learned a lot while memorizing our first verse in Acts.

On Monday, we looked at the broader context of the book of Acts and saw that Acts is all about mission.

It traces the spread of the gospel from Jerusalem to Rome, showing how the message of Jesus moves outward — despite persecution — through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Along the way, we hear major speeches from Peter, Stephen, and Paul, which help us understand who Jesus is and what salvation truly means.

On Tuesday, we zoomed in on the story surrounding Acts 4:12.

Peter and John had just healed a lame man at the temple in Jesus’ name, and the religious leaders were not happy. They arrested the apostles, questioning their authority.

Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit (though just an average fisherman), declared that the man was healed — and that salvation itself comes — through Jesus alone.

On Wednesday, we studied the meaning behind the word “name” (onoma in Greek). In the ancient world, a name represented a person’s power, authority, and identity.

So when Peter says there’s no other name by which we must be saved, he’s declaring that Jesus alone carries the authority to rescue and redeem.

And finally on Thursday, we looked at why that name is so unique.

Jesus isn’t one option among many but is the only one who is fully God and fully man.

  • Only Jesus lived without sin.

  • Only Jesus died for the forgiveness of our sins.

  • Only Jesus rose from the dead.

The main point of Acts 4:12 is that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.

There is no other name — no other person, power, or path — by which humanity can be rescued from sin and death.

Peter is proclaiming the exclusive and all-sufficient power of Jesus to save, because of who He is and what He has done.

We may know this truth intellectually - but I pray that in whatever situation you find yourself in, that you would know it experientially.

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6
APPLY AND RESPOND 🏃‍♂️

If salvation is found in no one else, then sharing Jesus isn’t optional — it’s essential.

So here’s a simple question:

Who in your life is God drawing closer to Himself right now?

It could be a friend, a coworker, or even someone in your own family.

Take one small step this weekend to participate in His work:

Send a text
Start a conversation
Invite someone to church

You don’t need the perfect words. You just need faith in the perfect Savior.

Pray 🙏

Lord, open my eyes to the people around me who don’t know you. Show me where you are working in their lives. Use me as a witness to your power and authority to save. Amen.
