Happy Friday, {{first_name | everyone}}!
Let’s wrap up the week! But first, here’s a great quote from evangelist Billy Sunday:
The law tells me how crooked I am. Grace comes along and straightens me out.

CONTEXT 📕
All week, we've explored Ephesians 2:8–9. Let's review what we've learned!
On Monday, we focused on the background the book of Ephesians.
Paul wrote Ephesians to remind believers of the incredible riches they have in Christ. Rather than addressing a particular crisis, the letter paints a sweeping picture of God's plan to save sinners by grace and unite them into one family.
We also explored the world of Ephesus — a city known for wealth, power, pagan worship, and the Temple of Artemis. In a culture where people found their identity in status and achievement, Paul proclaimed a radically different message.
Our identity is not found in our accomplishments or our past, but in Jesus Christ.
On Tuesday, we looked at Ephesians 2, the chapter that contains our memory verses.
The chapter begins by confronting us with the seriousness of sin. Paul says we were spiritually dead and unable to rescue ourselves.
But then everything changes with two remarkable words: "But God..."
Because of his great love, rich mercy, and abundant grace, God made us alive in Christ. Paul then broadens the picture, showing that salvation is not only about individuals — it creates one united people made up of both Jews and Gentiles.
On Wednesday, our investigation lead us to three key words in Ephesians 2:8–9 that explain how God saves us.
Grace reminds us that salvation is God's generous gift, given to those who could never earn or repay it.
Faith reminds us that we receive this gift by trusting in Jesus Christ rather than in ourselves.
Works remind us that while good deeds are the fruit of a genuine Christian life, they are the result of salvation — not the means of obtaining it.
Together, these words point us to the heart of the gospel: we are saved by grace through faith in Christ, leaving no room for human boasting.
And on Thursday, we connected Ephesians 2:8–9 to the larger story of Jesus and the gospel.
We saw that the gospel is bigger than a plan of salvation. It is the good news of Jesus Christ — his life, death, resurrection, ascension, and coming kingdom —plus the invitation to participate in that story.
God's grace took the initiative by sending his Son into the world. Through faith, we are united to Christ and become citizens of his kingdom.
And here and now, our lives begin to bear the fruit of good works as grateful responses to the grace we have already received.
The gospel (good news) doesn't end when we first believe. It continues shaping the way we worship, serve, love, and follow Jesus until the day he returns and makes all things new.
APPLY AND RESPOND 🏃♂
Hopefully, this has become crystal clear this week:
We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ — not by our own goodness, religious performance, or striving.
And because salvation is God's gift, no one is beyond his grace and no believer has reason to boast. That is wonderful news, not only for us, but for all the people God has placed in our lives.
Many people assume Christianity is about being a good person or earning God's approval. But the gospel tells a different story. It is the story of Jesus Christ —who came to save sinners, reconcile us to God, and invite us into his kingdom.
So this week, our challenge is to share that good news with someone.
Look for any opportunity to have an honest spiritual conversation with a friend, family member, coworker, or neighbor. Rather than trying to win an argument or have all the answers, simply share why Jesus is your hope and how his grace has changed your life.
Trust that God is the one who changes hearts. Your role is simply to bear faithful witness to the gift you have received.
🙏 Pray
Lord, thank you for saving me by your grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Help me never to take that gift for granted or to think I have earned it. Fill me with humility, gratitude, and love for others. Give me courage to speak about Jesus with gentleness and sincerity, trusting that you are still drawing people to yourself. May my life and my words point others to the hope found in Christ alone. Amen.
