MEMORIZE 🧠
And let us not ____ _____ of _____ ____, for in ___ ______ we will ____, if we do not ____ __.
Galatians 6:9
CONTEXT 📕
Our memory verse gives us a promise: there is a harvest ahead for those who persevere.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Let’s look at three phrases in our memory verse:
In this chapter, “doing good” is very practical.
It includes gently restoring a believer caught in sin, bearing one another’s burdens, supporting faithful gospel ministry, and caring for others — especially fellow believers (Galatians 6:1–6, 10).
But Paul knows this kind of faithfulness can be tiring.
So he says, “Let us not grow weary”
The Greek word, enkakeō, means to lose heart or become discouraged.
This is more than physical tiredness. It’s the inward weariness you feel when obedience feels costly, unnoticed, or slow to bear visible fruit.
Then Paul says, “if we do not give up.”
This Greek word, eklyō, carries the sense of becoming worn down, fainting, or loosening one’s resolve.
Weariness can tempt us to stop doing the good God has called us to do.
Paul does not shame us for being tired.
He knows faithfulness can be difficult. But he calls us to keep going, not by relying on ourselves, but by trusting the Lord, who sees our labor and promises a harvest in his time.
Our outward circumstances may drain us, but God renews his people day by day and provides what we need: daily bread.
APPLY AND RESPOND 🏃♂
🤔 Reflect
We don’t automatically go from feeling weary to giving up. There’s often a tipping point. Think about the last time you gave up on something:
What was the difference between when you felt tired and when you gave up?
🏃♂ Act
Tired + ? = Give Up
Identify the thing that usually pushes you over the line. Then plan for it.
For example, I was tired + overstimulated so I gave up.
So I could schedule regular breaks throughout my day.
🙏 Pray
Father, help me to notice when I am growing weary and to bring that to you. It often means I may be relying on my own strength and may soon feel tempted to give up. You have good work for me to do on this earth. By your Spirit, help me endure and continue running the race. Amen.
